The vision of an idyllic family ski holiday – building snowmen and watching your smiling young ones master their first tentative snow plough – are often more dream than reality as the ski school tantrums, forgotten gloves and complaining about the cold take over. Enter the Ski Nanny, the Kristiania in Lech’s answer to all your family ski perils.
Available to children aged three years and up, this Mary Poppins on snow is on hand to take care of all the slope side logistics – from helping with ski gear and taking children to and from ski school, to providing hot chocolate and munchies by the fire after a day on the slopes – leaving parents free to cheer from the sidelines or make the most of the huge Arlberg ski area.
Designed as more of a private residence than a hotel, the 29 room Kristiania provides an adventure filled winter haven for younger guests inspired by the Managing Director, Gertrud Scneider, who spent her childhood winters in the hotel whilst her parents – former downhill Olympic champion Othmar Schneider and her art aficionado mother, who is integral to creating the Kristiania’s world-class contemporary art collection, ran the hotel.
Children’s menus, special bed linen, bathrobes and toiletries are all provided as well as sleighs and baby joggers and emergency baby kits for those forgotten essentials. A number of suites can interlink to offer spacious family areas and younger children can be accommodated in the parents’ room. Lech offers terrain to suit every level and off the slopes, the Kristiania is dedicated to putting the magic into the winter wonderland experience, with deer watching and horse drawn carriage rides available to create a truly memorable and stress free ski holiday.
The Kristiania is offering a seven-night family escape this Easter from €440 per day per room based on two adults and two children* sharing. Price includes a la carte breakfast and dinner, Champagne and homemade chocolates for the parents and ‘grandmother’s lemonade’ for the children; a six day ski pass for the family; 30 minute massage for the parents and Ski Nanny service for the children as well as special Easter celebrations – from egg hunts to making Easter biscuits.
