For the winter season, the boutique resort has launched a new ‘Alila Experience’ that will take guests on an intimate tour through Goa’s ancient heritage, religion and architecture.
The adventure starts with a train journey departing from Margao Railway Station to Chandor, the ancient capital of Goa. In the village of Chandor, guests can explore the Bragança House that was built in the 17th century. A chance to relive its colonial history through the structure of the house, ancient artifacts, furniture and family stories, discovering the tales of Kings, Princes, Dukes and Rakes.
The next stop on the trail is Quepem to visit the Palacio do Deao, a 213-year-old mansion built by a Portuguese nobleman. Its unusual style blends elements of Hindu and Portuguese architecture. Guests are then driven to one of the oldest places of worship in Goa, Mount Chandreshwar, home to the 2,000 year old Shiva temple. The mountain is also known as one of the state's most spectacular viewpoints, with panoramic views of south Goa, perfect for watching the sunset before returning to the resort.
Alila Diwa Goa offers a collection of Alila Experiences drawing on the culture, history, creative and culinary aspects that South Goa has to offer. Discover local villages on foot or bike, explore the local food markets and take on a cooking class at the acclaimed Spice Studio, meet and learn the art of breadmaking from the local ‘Podher’, ride an elephant, visit a 200 year old spice plantation or trek to Goa's highest waterfalls.
The Experience of ‘Revisiting Goa’s Portuguese Past’ is available at just INR 5500 per couple.
Rooms at Alila Diwa Goa start from £90++ per night based on two sharing and including breakfast. These rates are valid until March 2015. Blackout dates from 21st December 2014 to 10th January 2015 apply.
