Alila Villas Uluwatu has signed an agreement with the R.O.L.E. Foundation to provide onsite hospitality training for the students of the Bali WISE Vocational Skills Course.

The female students, all from underprivileged backgrounds, will receive valuable training in Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping and cooking, overseen by the team at the luxury resort on the island’s southern peninsula. This hands-on experience is a crucial success point of the Bali WISE Vocational Skills Course, which strives to provide job skills, education and employment opportunities to women in need.

Commenting on the partnership, Alila Villas Uluwatu General Manager Sean Brennan said “The ROLE Foundation and its BALI Wise initiative provide a valuable opportunity for the disadvantaged women on the island and we are proud to be able to play our part in sharing our knowledge and creating development and training opportunities to help the students grow, learn and build positive futures.”

Michael O’Leary, Founder and CEO of the R.O.L.E. Foundation said “The booming hospitality industry in Bali increasingly demands for qualified local staff and that’s exactly what we are aiming at and why we only want to work with the best. Educated and skilled women can make informed life choices, which first of all benefit themselves. But in the long-term, these women will create a positive change for the lives of their families, children and communities and eventually break the cycle of poverty”.

The partnership forms part of Alila’s holistic vision to create a positive impact on the community in which they manage hotels. Alila Villas Uluwatu is also committed to the BALI LIFE FOUNDATION, an orphanage that provides housing, education and health care to children from the age of 5 to 15. Guests of the resort are also offered the opportunity to participate in ‘Journeys’, providing insights into local communities and the chance to support Alila’s projects.

About Bali WISE

Initiated by the R.O.L.E. Foundation, the Bali WISE Programs provide free skills education to the economically disadvantaged and underprivileged women of Bali. These include Literacy, English Language, Basic Work and Life Skills, Social Business Development and Vocational Training. Under the ROLE Model Program, the vocational students gain the opportunity to train onsite at partnering hotels. With the aim to break the cycle of poverty and to overcome constraints accessing education, the students incur no costs to access classes and receive transport, meals and accommodation. Upon graduation, Bali WISE assists with the job application and placement. In case no employment can be found, the students can be placed into a Social Business developed by R.O.L.E. Foundation.
