ALILA HOTELS & RESORTS OPENS ALILA JABAL AKHDAR DISCOVER OMAN’S GREEN MOUNTAINS

As the first luxury resort in the Al Hajar mountains, the resort is one of the most anticipated openings in the region this year and the first for Alila Hotels & Resorts in the Middle East.

Located on the edge of a 2,000 foot gorge and only accessible by 4x4, the resort is perfectly positioned to explore Al Jabal Al Akhdar's rugged landscapes, a haven for adventure travellers, nature lovers and those seeking an escape from the desert heat, with absolute peace and tranquillity guaranteed. 

Developed in partnership with Omran, a prominent operator and asset manager of tourism in Oman, the resort will be one of the country’s most sustainable, built to EarthCheck standards, with the aim of becoming gold certified within six months of opening. Designed to minimise impact on the surrounding environment, whilst maximising on the area’s outstanding natural beauty, the resort has used locally sourced materials and traditional artisanal craftsmanship. The new resort has drawn inspiration from its Oman location in all aspects – from its architecture and interiors, to the specially crafted ‘Islamic Mediterranean’ cuisine, with the famous juniper and roses that grow locally, featuring prominently throughout the menu.

The interiors of the 78 suites and villas have been inspired by the fragrant pink roses, which blanket the mountainside in springtime. Each come complete with their own balconies or terraces perfect for sunsets and stargazing, whilst the infinity pool stretches out over the gorge. The two Jabal Villas, named Jowz and Rummanah after the walnuts and pomegranates found in the region, will offer guests the ultimate in privacy with two en-suite bedrooms, large living spaces, private pool and terraces.

For those looking to explore, a host of bespoke Alila experiences will range from the cultural and culinary to the adventurous and indulgent, from canyon walks and tours of the local villages and rose plantations to private palm-shadowed picnics and sensational star-lit suppers. For something more relaxing, the first Middle East outpost of the acclaimed Spa Alila brand will include seven treatment rooms, Jacuzzis and private al-fresco courtyards with signature treatments incorporating local ingredients including rose water, fresh pomegranates and fruits.

Alila Hotels & Resorts were first established in Indonesia over 10 years ago. The group currently has eight properties, six across Indonesia, two in India plus a luxury phinisi, the Alila Purnama. Alila Hotel & Resorts have 25 new developments in the pipeline; seven of which are due to open in the next two years. Alila continues to expand with exciting new hotels and resorts in key destinations, including Malaysia, China, India, Indonesia and Indochina.

Opening rates at Alila Jabal Akhdar cost from £180 per night plus taxes based on two sharing and including breakfast.
